A globally recoginised energy management company has retained Prism Executive to appoint a Global Head of Procurement into their Irish entity. The role will be based in Ireland, have global remit, and will hold a seat at the global leadership table. A critical appointment to the business, the role holder will make massive inroads across the global ecosystem instilling a best in class procurement system, be seen as the subject matter expert and influence internal and external stakeholders across all geographies and markets in Ireland, North America, Germany, Sweden and Australia.

The group have a wealth of experience and expertise in supplying, designing, installing and supporting energy monitoring and management systems, critical power and data centre control solutions for a range of Irish and international clients in a variety of business sectors.


Global Head of Procurement

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage the procurement department globally: optimising organisation, recruiting new talent, leading, and training the team.

  • Provide guidance to a team of buyers in diverse locations securing consistent and excellent performance.

  • Establish and maintain gross inventory targets. Includes developing action plans to minimize inventory exposure and for scrapping or mitigating excess and obsolete parts based on business information and assess inventory management.

  • Creation of reports of key performance indicators and identify opportunities for potential report automation and drive these to completion.

  • Monitor key metrics in the areas of supplier delivery, cost, quality, and service which clearly demonstrate performance against targets. Drive supplier corrective actions where performance falls below agreed target levels.

  • Develop and identify cost reduction process improvements.

  • Conduct Business Reviews with Suppliers to ensure that performance is to target, and expectations are clearly understood.

  • Agree development/improvement programs where required. Drive resulting corrective actions to conclusion.

  • Lead all significant issue resolution programs with suppliers, with other relevant functions (e.g., Supplier Quality, Engineering).

  • Utilise structured problem-solving techniques to ensure root causes are addressed and corrective actions are effective.

  • Identify supplier risk situations and work with site functions and Strategic Procurement to implement risk mitigations strategies.

  • Participate in RFQ and Supplier Selection activities to ensure that any new suppliers are production-ready in line with business requirements, ensuring no interruption to operations.

  • Lead the site cross-functional process for the evaluation and selection of new suppliers.

  • Management of procurement Team in (and across) sourcing, contracting, transactional purchasing, supplier management, and miscellaneous internal procurement support activities

  • Explore alternate sources for goods and materials.

  • Manage end of life components.

  • Ordering and inventory control; review process and implement changes to gain efficiencies and control.

  • Review all new Supplier Agreement (Terms & Conditions)/Contracts and Non-Disclosure Agreement.

  • Monitor suppliers and procurement performance: drawing up specifications, defining key performance indicators, overseeing overall procurement costs and budgets, regular reporting.

  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.

  • Manage every aspect of the supply chain and notify the senior management team of any possible obstacles.

  • Design and implement processes within the procurement department to drive efficiencies.

  • Develop policies and procedures for collecting and reporting key metrics and forecasts.

  • Day to day interface with design engineers, service team, production team, and warehouse team to ensure requirements and needs are met.

  • Work with Stock Manager, review amount of stock held for projects.

Qualifications, Key Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a similar role with a multinational firm

  • Third level certification in a relevant discipline from a leading 3rd level institution

  • Mature judgment, problem solving and decision-making ability.

  • SAP Business one experience an advantage

  • Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management in a component related industry’s

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

  • Flexible, professional and highly organized

  • Project management experience preferable

  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English
