Due to rapid pace of growth within Group, Prism Executive have been retained by a Global Engineering client to appoint a Managing Director to scale their Pharma/Lifesciences business. The role will be based in Ireland, have global group remit, and will hold a seat at the senior leadership table. A critical appointment to the business, the role holder will make massive inroads across the global group ecosystem instilling and building a best in class Pharma/Lifesciences division, highly skilled stakeholders relationship management and be seen as the voice of pharma within the business, across all geographies and markets.
Working with the COO and owners the MD will develop and lead a strategy of growth within the Irish business, driving business to achieve the goals agreed. Managing the performance of Pharma/Lifesciences, as dictated by the overall strategy agreed by the CEO and Board. Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the COO and EMT to ensure continued development of the Group and Business Unit.
Key Activities:
Responsible for developing a client focused Pharma/Lifesciences strategy encompassing existing clients while being responsible for the development of future clients for the business.
Responsible for developing and running a strategic plan which will clearly show the future strategy for the Company.
Lead and manage Business Unit team in Pharma/Lifesciences – strategically and corporate
Involvement in Project selection and deciding an organisational structure to adhere corporate goals and strategy.
Take responsibility for ensuring the business risk is adequate to performance of the business. This will include overall succession planning and financial risk as well as good governance.
Responsible for developing a high performing management team. Actively engaging in the development of a robust succession plan for the Group management levels.
Participates as part of the SMT and support other team members in solving strategic problems to ensure client satisfaction and repeat business from long term customers
Support the COO in implementing the Business Unit Strategy
Exercise influence in a leadership capacity for reports, supply chain principals and clients in the relentless strive for Zero Incidents, Zero Injuries and high-quality standards.
Work with Commercial Director to ensure the timely payment of agreed revenues from clients
Contributes to shaping, influencing and developing HSE, recruitment, design process and project risk management components to ensure best economic solutions are achieved for all stakeholders and clients.
Experience & Skills:
Essential experience of successfully delivering Pharma/Life science projects
The ability to effectively communicate a compelling Vision for the future in a way that brings others on board.
A seasoned decision maker with good judgement and the experience to understand the potential impact of decisions on the other areas of the business
Has led negotiations with key clients on the most complex of projects
The ability to effectively manage performance levels of individuals, teams subcontractors and partners
The ability to think strategically when assessing project plans
Is experienced in actively promoting organisational learning and facilitates the transfer of knowledge
Has the willingness to drive an agenda of continuous improvement and a determination to succeed
