PROJECT DIRECTOR- DUBLIN - ENGINEERING/TECHNOLOGY




A global engineering organisation are looking to appoint a Project Director to lead key projects for their largest technology client. The role holder will work closely with the Operations Director and other senior internal stakeholders in implementing and leading best in class commercial, technical and operational strategic policy across all layers of the clients’ projects. As this is a pivotal hire into the business, the appointee will hold experience across international markets.


Be a strong leader and mentor of all onsite and offsite teams across Engineering, Commercial and Sub-contractors. The appointee will be the driving force behind each project ensuring all projects are delivered with best-in-class attention to detail and delivery. Gaining credibility and engagement with senior external stakeholders associated with each project, being visible onsite and ensuring each project encapsulates the full project ecosystem.


Whilst commercially strong, the appointee will champion and drive collaboration and communication management across all projects, working with an advanced and already well-established capable team. They will identify and deliver appropriate cost effective, secure solutions bringing added value to both customers, suppliers, and employees.


Responsibilities:

Tender/Feasibility/Award and Validation:

Lead tender, feasibility, award and validation phases for a number of projects through the management of Project Management teams ensuring that all defined timescales, legal and regulatory standards are met.

Design, Engineering and Procurement:

  • Drive all project teams to provide high specification engineering designs, best value solutions and delivery on time and within budgets.

  • Oversee all quality and safety plans ensuring fit for purpose.

Construction:

  • Oversee application of health and safety/environmental policies on site ensuring safe and efficient working with emphasis on driving reductions in wastage

  • Make regular visits to monitor progress of Project Teams; working closely with Project Managers ensuring compliance with programme commercial plans and record keeping

Administration requirements:

  • Oversee and review site productivity and quality standards with Project Managers, providing regular updates to Operations Director

  • Develop and support Project Managers

  • Provide ongoing mentoring/coaching support, clear leadership and direction enabling teams to overcome problems and barriers to success

  • Maintaining excellent working relationships with client from project start to handover, acting as ambassador with client and all other stakeholders.

Commissioning:

  • Lead and develop Project Managers and Project Teams in review and development of the Commissioning Phase to comply with the project requirements in line with all legal and regulatory standards.

Close out:

  • Lead and develop Project Managers and Project Teams in review and development of the Close Out Phase, identifying main issues for continuous learning and improvement.

Other:

  • Actively contribute to the development and effectiveness of Project Management teams. Ensure that all company’s policies and procedures and take all necessary actions to ensure health, safety and welfare of yourself, your colleagues and any other persons.
